Klinische Bedeutung

Impfungen dienen dem  Schutz vor Infektionen sowie zur Vorbeugung von Übertragung und Verbreitung von Krankheitserregern, wie beispielsweise Tetanus, Diphtherie, Bordetella pertussis, Frühsommer-Meningoenzephalitis-, Masern-, Mumps-, Röteln- oder Varizella-Zoster-Viren.

Diagnostik

Die Beurteilung der Immunität anhand einer Bestimmung von IgG-Antikörpern ist nur für wenige Erreger möglich. Voraussetzung hierfür ist u. a. ein standardisierter Antikörpernachweis mit Bezug auf internationale Referenzpräparationen und die Verfügbarkeit eines Grenzwertes (Cut-off) zur Unterscheidung zwischen vorhandener und nicht vorhandener Immunität. Entsprechende Grenzwerte sind für Tetanus, Diphtherie, Masern, Röteln, VZV sowie FSME beschrieben. Für Mumps und Pertussis hingegen sind bislang keine Immunitätsgrenzwerte oder -marker bekannt, welche mit dem Immunschutz korrelieren.
