Allergy

Type I allergies or immediate type allergies are allergic reactions that occur within minutes to hours from contact with the allergenic substance. This IgE-mediated immune reaction can cause different symptoms including skin rashes, itching, swelling, breathing and gastrointestinal issues and, in severe cases, anaphylaxis. Typical allergen sources include foods, inhalation allergens and insect venoms.

Targeted diagnostics of immediate type allergies allows to take suitable measures to avoid and treat allergic reactions and thus improve the well-being and quality of life of the affected person.

Diagnostics

The in vitro determination of specific IgE antibodies in serum or plasma confirms a sensitisation and can indicate an increased allergy potential with regard to the tested allergen source. Alongside the medical history and skin testing, in vitro determination is therefore an important component in the conventional tiered approach to allergy diagnostics.

Euroimmun offers test systems with the singleplex technology (ChLIAs) and the multiplex technology (EUROLINE) for in vitro determination of specific IgE antibodies.

Automation - News and Highlights

  • EUROBlotOne

The EUROBlotOne is a compact tabletop device for complete processing of immunoblots. Following the fast and convenient software-guided loading, the system performs the identification and dilution of samples as well as all incubation and wash steps.

  • EUROBlotMaster

The EUROBlotMaster and the EUROBlotMaster 44 are compact tabletop devices for processing Euroimmun blot strips (EUROLINE, EUROLINE-WB, Westernblot). Different conjugates and tests for autoimmune, infection and allergy diagnostics can be combined in one run.
